The Kiwanis Club of Mapleton

Urban Resource Institute is a city run organization that is the largest provider of shelter services in the United States. The Kiwanis Club of Mapleton brought one of these shelters to the attention of the Christian J. Santo Legacy Foundation . The Kiwanis Club in partnership with the foundation organized a heartwarming Christmas event for the residents of this local women’s shelter which provides a safe haven for women and children escaping domestic violence. The shelter was transformed into a festive wonderland with the beautiful decorations and a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Santa Claus, who generously volunteered their time. While the Kiwanis club handled all of the logistical preparations, the Santo foundation funded the entire event. Families at the shelter enjoyed pizza, candy, juice, cupcakes, and of course, the beautiful decorations. Mr. and Mrs. Claus distributed toys to the children which were provided by the foundation. Additionally, the foundation supplied Amazon gift cards for the women. The event aimed to bring joy, hope and a sense of community to these brave individuals during the holiday season.
